Cabochon Mandrels - Round
  12 diameters, 2 handle lengths, $9.95 to $15.95 each

Cabochon Mandrels - Round Flat TN
All 12 diameters are available with 9" or
12" length handles.

Pictured are 1/2",
5/8", 3/4" and 1".

Our round Cabochon Mandrels come in 12 diameters, from ½" to 1", by 1/16" increments, plus 1¼", 1½" and 2". They feature a thicker 5/32" handle for more a comfortable grip and your choice of a 9" (23cm) or 12" (30cm) length. For regular bead mandrels, where you mostly hold the mandrel level, the 12" length is more popular. Cabochon mandrels are typically used more in an up and down direction, therefor you might prefer the 9" length so it doesn't bump the table and other objects. The larger sizes not only make large cabochons, but also can be used like a painter's palette to make one or more irregular pieces at a time across its face. Millimeter equivalents listed with each size.

Stepped Mandrels
 5 choices, from $5.00 to $ 17.50

Stepped Mandrels TN

Over the last 20 years we have made tens of thousands of 1/16" x 9" Brass Sheathed Mandrels. They are a 6" length of 3/32" brass tubing over a 1/16" x 9" stainless steel mandrel to increases its diameter where it is held and to stiffen it. It's not much, but it makes a big difference. That's why so many people use them. We have now expanded and modified this idea by instead welding a 1/16" x 3" short mandrel to the end of larger diameter mandrels. The all stainless steel Stepped Mandrel with a 3/32" diameter handle and an overall length of 9" has the same dimensions as the original Brass Sheathed Mandrels. It is also offered in a 12" length. In addition, we also make the 9" and 12" lengths with 1/8" handles.

Beau Anderson Tungsten Mandrels
 3 diameters, from $11.00 to $ 13.00

Beau Anderson Tungsten Mandrels TN

Revolutionary, no mandrel release required. Tungsten has long been used to rake and poke holes in glass, because of its ability to resist sticking to molten glass. However, get tungsten and glass hot enough and they do stick together. Apply heat properly to the tungsten and it releases. That is the basis by which Tungsten Mandrels are used. Welded, end on end, is a 3" section of tungsten to a 9" section of 1/8" stainless steel. The stainless stays cool to the touch, as a regular mandrel does. Use Instructions.
