Sights to see in the area

There are lots of interesting sites to visit in the region. The discovery site that set off the California Gold Rush, in Coloma, is only 20 minutes away. The original western starting point of the Transcontinental Railway was in Sacramento. So was the Pony Express. You may want to visit The Train Museum in Old Sacramento. The Gold Bug mine is in Placerville. The real "Mother Lode" is in the area. Beautiful Lake Tahoe, and its Las Vegas style gambling, is only about 65 miles away. Plus there are lots more sites to see.
