Enamels are densely colored glass that can be rolled or sifted onto the surface, encased, or kneaded into glass to color it. You can also mix colors together to create new colors.

Thompson Enamels are available in two grain sizes. The more commonly used is 80 mesh, which a very fine frit size and powder-like. Any finer and it would too easily become airborne. The coarser size is a 6 to 20 mesh blend frit. It is comparable in size to other glass company's medium to large frit sizes.

Effetre (Moretti) compatible: The 9000 series Thompson Enamels contains 38 compatible opaque colors for all Effetre (Moretti) glass. COE of 104.

Bullseye and Spectrum Compatible: The 7000 and 8000 series Thompson Enamels contains 43 compatible colors for Bullseye and Spectrum glass. COE of 90 to 97. The 34 colors of the 7000 series are opaque. The 9 colors of the 8000 series are transparent.

Enamel Sifters come in three sizes and are used to apply a controlled sprinkle of enamel.

Enamel Marking Pens are a ball point pen with vitreous enamel ink. Write or draw directly on metal or fired enamel surface or glass and fire to make a permanent mark. Available in black, white and A-5 oil. After marking directly on metal, over sift a coat of flux or light transparent before firing. After marking directly on a fired enamel surface, dry and fire with or without an over sifting. After marking with the A-5 oil, either on metal or a fired enamel surface, sift with any color. Tilt the piece and let excess enamel fall off, leaving a distinct line of color.
